How to Choose Your Spiritual Mentor

Choosing a spiritual mentor is a sacred soul decision, not a casual choice. The right mentor helps you remember who you truly are, deepen your intuitive gifts, and walk your path with more clarity, courage, and grace.

Begin with Your Soul Intention

Before you seek a mentor, take a breath and connect with your current season of life.

Ask yourself:

  • Where am I right now on my spiritual and healing journey?
  • Where do I long to be in the next 6–12 months?
  • What feels confusing, heavy, or stuck that I no longer want to carry alone?

Common intentions include deepening intuitive and psychic gifts, healing past trauma or grief, strengthening boundaries as an empath, or receiving loving guidance for your next soul‑level expansion.

Look for Alignment in Values and Path

A spiritual mentor does not need to match you in every belief or detail of your story, but they do need to be in integrity with your core values.

Ask:

  • Do their beliefs and practices resonate with my heart and inner truth?
  • Do I feel safe, respected, and honored in their presence?
  • Do they honor free will, consent, and energetic boundaries rather than control or fear?

A good spiritual mentor both compliments and gently challenges you, so you grow instead of staying comfortable and stuck.

Notice How They Live, Not Just What They Say

Spiritual language can be learned; embodiment is different.

Pay attention to:

  • How they treat people they do not need to impress.
  • Whether they demonstrate humility—able to admit mistakes and keep learning.
  • How they respond to questions, doubts, and feedback.

You are looking for a mentor who is real, grounded, and willing to walk beside you, not above you. (See About page here)

Check That They Are Supported and Still Growing

Healthy spiritual mentors are also being mentored, supervised, or supported.

Consider:

  • Do they have their own mentors, teachers, or healing support?
  • Are they continuing their education and spiritual development?
  • Do they set clear limits around what they can and cannot offer (for example, not replacing medical or psychological care)?

This protects both of you and helps prevent unhealthy guru dynamics or over‑dependence.

Clarify Structure, Boundaries, and Expectations

Before you commit, understand how the mentoring container works.

Important questions:

  • How often will we meet, for how long, and in what format (online / distance)?
  • What is included—intuitive guidance, energy healing, crystal and Angelic support, between‑session check‑ins?
  • What are the pricing, payment, and cancellation policies?
  • What are the communication boundaries between sessions (response times and channels)?

Clear containers allow your nervous system to relax so you can do deeper spiritual and emotional work. (Learn more here)

Trust the Energetic Fit

Beyond credentials and offerings, there is an energetic “click” that tells you when a mentor is right for you.

Signs to notice:

  • Your body feels more spacious, grounded, or uplifted when you interact with them.
  • You feel gently stretched, not shamed or diminished.
  • You sense they genuinely care for your soul, not just for a transaction.

Give yourself permission to say no—even to someone highly recommended—if your energy says no, and honor the quiet, steady yes that keeps nudging you toward a particular mentor.
